Congregation Eilat's USY Congregation Eilat's award-winning USY chapter is made up of 7th through 12th graders. Within the chapter they have many events including lounge nights, Shabbat clubs, sleepovers, bonfires, scavenger hunts, trips to theme parks and many other exciting events! USY events are great opportunities to meet old friends and make new friendships that last forever.
Lounge nights are every two weeks during which we have a range of themes; which include learning about Israel, raising awareness about global events, helping to build Eilat?s Sukkah, learning new games and of course eating ?.but most of all, having fun and socializing!
Shabbat clubs are Friday night dinners hosted by families of USYers. We do the Kabbalat Shabbat Service at their home where we are then treated to a wonderful Shabbat dinner followed by a lively Birkat Ha Mazon.
Eilat's USY is an active part of the Far West region and is a four time designee of theChapter of Excellence Award. An Eilat USYer has been a regional officer four of the past five years. Within our region we have many events with USYers from other synagogues across the Southwestern United States. The regional programs include events like Saturday night dances, Kinnusim and a very exciting end of year convention! During Kinnusim, the whole region is hosted by a synagogue within the region for a fun filled weekend of learning, meeting new people and having fun!
Compliments and thanks to all the USYers who participated in this past Saturday's (Oct 24) USY service. If you missed it you really missed a wonderful service. The USYers were awesome. So many stepped up and accepted the challenge of doing a Torah reading or leading a part of the service they never led before. Well done! Special thanks and compliments to USY Rel Ed VP Corey Tatel for enlisting USYers. participation and for organizing services (as well as serving as rabbi.)
Thanks also to all the parents who encouraged and supported their teens and for attending this terrific service.
